Two pairs hybrid electric motor, producing 90 hp and 84 hp, with a 4.4-liter, 400-hp twin-turbo V8 engine, making ActiveHybrid X6 the most powerful hybrids available today. The engine links to the two-mode electric variable transmission continuously (ECVT), which allows ActiveHybrid X6 to operate the electric motors alone at lower speeds and involving the gas engine when the driver requires additional power. Although BMW has not released fuel economy figures for ActiveHybrid X6, they expect the hybrid engine to reduce fuel consumption by 20 percent, when compared to conventional gas-powered BMW engine.
BMW offers performance improvements for both trims for 2010, should the owner require additional power and torque. Upgrades improve performance horsepower by 20 hp and torque by 30 lb-ft. Which upgrades are available as part of the optional Sport Package.
All X6 trims are equipped with intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive technology, which quickly adjust to accommodate all types of road conditions. For 2010, BMW added Dynamic Performance Control, which works with an innovative rear differential to multiply torque to one of the rear wheels to help steer the vehicle on icy roads or loose surfaces.
